There are many paths that lead to change
In our fast and hectic lifestyles, many of us have
difficulties finding time to tackle some of our personal issues and problems.
We have learned that when we suffer from a physical illness, going to the
doctor, getting a diagnosis, and in turn following his or her instructions and taking
medication can lead to better health. This is a passive relationship reliant
upon our ability to follow the doctor's recommendations.
Therapy however is an active relationship requiring effort on the part of
the client, as well as the therapist. A client can seek direction and insight
with the help of a therapist, but inevitably, improvement equally relies upon
the client's commitment to making changes in their own perception and lifestyle.
