About John Sikes...
John Sikes Johnson received his Bachelors degree from the University of North Texas and later earned
his Masters of Science in Counseling Psychology from Angelo State University.
While in San Angelo, John Sikes worked for MHMR focusing on Bipolar and Schizophrenic
populations. He also worked weekends at Rivercrest Hospital in the Adult Mental Health Unit.
From 1998-1999, John Sikes commuted from San Angelo to Midland to conduct neurofeedback training at Spectrum Counseling. He used neurofeedback to treat ADHD, seizures, headaches, mental retardation, and depression.
In 2000, John Sikes moved to Dallas, Texas, and worked for Catholic Counseling of Catholic Charities, a non-profit organization, where he began counseling in individual, marital, and family counseling settings. He also ran divorce support groups, marital enhancement groups, and gave seminars on relationships.
In 2003, John Sikes completed his internship and started his own private practice in Dallas and continued to see clients for individual, marital, and family counseling.
In 2010, John Sikes moved back to Midland, his hometown, and opened a new private practice while continuing to see clients in Dallas on the weekends.
During this time he also served as an adolescent therapist and the Director of Therapy Services for the BCA Permian Basin Psychiatric Hospital. John Sikes resigned from his position as a director at BCA in June of 2012 in order to focus exclusively on his private practice.
In 2020, John Sikes continued working with clients as the world adapted to the major societal shifts that occurred due the world response to Covid. It was during this time, he began shifting his focus away from forensic work and emphasized life stability, stress management, and future goal setting. Much of his work centered around life coaching.
In 2022, John Sikes retired his professional counseling license and shifted his focus and practice entirely to life coaching.
He has been involved with Teen Court of Midland providing seminars and additional support where needed. He has also been asked to speak at multiple churches as well as to the MISD School Board on the signs and prevention of teen suicide.
